Description

The Release Analyst Plans, Organizes, Directs And Manages Activities For Building And Maintaining Software Releases For Their Promotion Between Test Environments And Into The Production Environment. The Release Analyst Provides Support To The Project Teams Including Software Developers, Testers, Application Operations And Business Unit Personnel In Executing And Managing Test Processes And Establishing The Environments Used To Conduct Testing Of The Final Deliverables Working In A Matrix Management Organization. The Release Analyst Directs Activities To Ensure The Software Products Meet Quality Standards And Performance Objectives Within Defined Time And Budget Targets.

The Release Analyst Will Be Responsible To Maintain And Provide Continuous Improvement Of The Release Management (Rm) Processes, Working Methods And Tools. This Position Will Support Software Development Lifecycle Activities And Service Management Activities Such As Release, Change, Configuration, Validation And Testing.

The Release Analyst Has The Responsibility Of Maintaining And Driving The Efficiency And Effectiveness Of The Daily Rm Activities. The Goal Of This Role Is To Ensure That A Structured Approach To Risk Assessment And Business Impact Is Employed When Processing Software Releases. The Analyst Ensures The Rm Process Is Introduced And Implemented According To Guidelines From Leadership. Additionally, The Selected Release Analyst Provides Continuous Communications And Coordination Of Progress On Actions, Tasking, And Issues.

Responsibilities:

Champion And Promote The Benefits Of It Service Management Processes Including Release, Change, Service Validation And Testing

Provide Day To Day Oversight Of Adherence To The Rm Processes, Policies, And Procedures

Responsible For Helping To Drive The Activities That Continue To Improve The Efficiency And Effectiveness Of The Rm And Service Management Processes

Responsible To Support Initiatives Associated With The Integration Of The Change Management Process Into The Release, Configuration, Service Validation And Testing Processes

Reports To Project Management And Service Management On The Progress Of The Release Management Effort Including The Status Of Project Software Builds, Deployments, And Environments Supporting Launch Phases Of Software Development Life Cycle

Interacts Extensively With The Functional Team Leads In The Estimation Cycle, Identification Of Inter-Team Dependencies, Delivery Plan Validation, Impact Assessments, Issue Tracking / Resolution And Status Reporting

Develops And Communicates Detailed Release Plans And Sets Delivery Expectations With Key Stakeholders. Updates And Communicates Release Status. Escalates Issues In A Timely Manner Where Required

Determine And Communicate The Readiness Of Each Release Based On Release Criteria Provided By The Development Organization (Quality Of Release, Production Environment Readiness, Training And Support Plans, Rollout And Back Out Plans, And Risk Management Plan).

Produce And Distribute Release Management Reports, Update Status And Escalate Issues

Work With And Integrate Processes With It And Noc Change Management. Review Requests For Changes (Rfc) And Ensure Appropriate Communication And Approvals Are Reviewed Within Agreed To Timeframes

Acts As A Conduit To The Change Management Team To Communicate The Release Plan And Assess Change Activity Impacts To The Release Plan

Keep All Rfc Records Up To Date In The It Service Management Toolset And Review The Status Of All Rfcs On A Regular Basis

Coordinate Prioritization And Scheduling Of Major, Minor And Defect Releases Between Environments

Ensures User Acceptance Tests Completed, All Defects Addressed And All Service Requests Contained In The Release Were Signed Off By The Requestors

Maintain Status In Release Control System And Other Tracking Systems Where Necessary

Support The Objectives Of Service Management By Contributing And Influencing Peers To Help Support Release Management Achieve Elevation

Support Release Management To Build And Maintain A Release Calendar Of Implementation Phases And Events, Agree Implementation Plans To Accommodate Realistic Implementation Schedules And Avoid Conflict, Keep The Shared Configuration Management Database Up-To-Date With Changes Implemented By New Releases

Manage Releases Within The End-To-End Release Policies And Procedures In Place At The Time

Ensures All Required Regression Testing Activities Were Completed Successfully

Verifies With The Assigned Ba If The Required Training Was Provided To The Affected User Community

Makes Sure A Comprehensive Back-Out Plan Exists And Was Validated

Makes Sure The Release Is Deployed According To The Release Plan

Monitors The Production Environment Post-Release For Any Unexpected Situations, And Make Sure Remedial Action Is Taken As Quickly As Possible

Facilitates Post-Release Evaluation Meetings To Discuss Issues And Identify Improvement Opportunities After Major Releases

Communicate, Escalate And Resolve Issues During Deployment Or Coordinate Fix Where Necessary

Researches New Software Development And Rm Methodologies And Technologies And Analyzes Their Application To Current Rm Needs

Applies Best Practices Of Software/Hardware Upgrade Processes To Include Repeatable And Automated Techniques

Acts As A Consultant To Internal And External Areas For The Purpose Of Training On Rm Tools Including Source Control, Change Tracking And Training On Rm Standards And Guidelines

Skill Qualifications:

Thorough Understanding Of The Software Development Lifecycle Process Along With Proven Release Management Experience Supporting This Process Within A Fortune 500 Company

Fundamental Understanding Of Development And Execution Of Test Plans, Test Cases, And Testing Methodologies

Experience Working With Change And Configuration Management Processes, With Expertise In Quality Assurance And Quality Control, And Who May Have Experience As An Application/Software Developer
